In November 2012, Tongji University, Tuscany Government, and Florence Municipal Government co-signed the Memorandum on Tongji University Florence Campus, officially initiating the preparation work on the campus.
Tongji University, together with The Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, Tuscany Government, and Florence Municipal Government, co-signed an announcement stating the collective intent to build the Florence Overseas Campus in March 2013, which was the first overseas campus of Tongji University .
The opening ceremony of Tongji Florence Campus was held in Le Murate, Florence 2013 April. Zhou Zuyi, Tongji University’s Secretary of the Party Committee , attended the event and unveiled the campus nameplate.
Tongji University and China Education Association for International Exchange signed the Arts Abroad Center and construction of the Tongji Aborad Campus In Florence agreement.
Since September 2016, 115 domestic and foreign institutions has become members of the AAP, 7 seminars has been held, 3 Summer Schools(Art, Design and Humanities) and 6 Semesters abroad and faculty visiting programs has been organized, a total of 551 students and teachers has participated in the AAP.
AAP aims to build a platform to actively promote cooperation between Chinese and foreign universities, thus bring about the landing of projects, and promote the construction of overseas study centers, by setting up and implement admission standards, evaluation indicators and relevant supporting regulations of overseas study centers.
